Nothing is left boring in the capital of design, where even places of worship are turned into palaces of cool.
The boutique hotel August, housed in a former Augustinian convent, is a feast for the eye. Just like the star-studded The Jane restaurant, previously a church, right across the street. Deeply respectful of its heritage, the place was completely renovated with modernist touches, making it a poster child for Belgian architecture. Locals flock together in the cool chapel-bar and restaurant.
There’s also a spa with secret outdoor swimming pond, hidden behind the convent wall: one of those hidden little wonders in the ancient city! Even on freezing winter days, it’s worth the plunge -tested and approved by yours truly!
