The coolest way to hike Table Mountain: Skeleton Gorge

Climbing the Table Mountain is one of the many cool challenges to do in Cape Town and there are many ways to reach its famously flat peak. My favorite is the Skeleton Gorge hike, which is different from all the others in that is takes you through a surprisingly green decor.

It starts in the beautiful Kirstenbosch gardens and leads up the Eastern slopes of the mountain through a shaded, indigenous forest. The road is steep and there will be a lot of crawling, you’ll work your way over wooden ladders and waterfalls and suddenly emerge on the bare flank of the mountain. Count one more hour to the top, as well as a very rewarding swim in the water reservoir on the way up –you’re not supposed to swim in there, but everybody does it anyway. In one word: breath-taking.
