There is no place for shopping like the Marrakshi souk, but some travellers may need to catch their breath amidst all its hussle and bussle. Tahba Ladima, better known as Place des Epices, is the perfect place for that.
Located right in the middle of the souk, you’ll first be greeted by a sea of merchants selling Berber carpets, hats, straw baskets, soap and herbal remedies, and even chameleons. Let your gaze wander a few feet up however and you’ll notice a range of inviting airy terraces, where you can enjoy a relaxing drink or pastry. Favorites are Nomad and Café des Epices, but their lesser-known neighbors are worth the try too. You’ll keep your head above water there, with the magnificent Atlas mountain range sight as a bonus.
